Finding the Qibla direction and locating the Kaaba from wherever you are shouldn't require installing an app or creating an account. QiblaFind is a free online Qibla compass and prayer-time toolkit that works straight from your browser — open the page, point your phone, and you have your direction. No download, no sign-up.
We built QiblaFind because some existing tools asked for more than they gave back: native apps that wanted permanent location tracking, sites bloated with trackers and pop-ups, calculators that quietly used the wrong convention for your region. QiblaFind is the opposite of that on purpose — small, fast, accurate, and built to calculate your Qibla bearing and prayer times in your browser. Motion readings stay there; coordinates also go to our server for city lookup. Optional reminders use location stored on our server.
The Qibla compass
The compass is the core of the site. It reads your device's geolocation and, where available, its magnetometer, and calculates the great-circle bearing from your coordinates to the Kaaba's fixed location in Makkah (21.4225°N, 39.8262°E) using spherical trigonometry — the same method used by ships and aircraft to find the shortest path between two points on a sphere, rather than a flat, inaccurate straight line on a map. Turn until the needle lines up, and you're facing the Qibla. If your device doesn't support motion sensors, or you'd rather not grant that permission, you can search for your city manually and get the same bearing as a static reading.
Prayer times, done properly
QiblaFind calculates Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha using standard solar-angle astronomical formulas for your exact coordinates, not a rounded-off table for the nearest big city. Because conventions genuinely differ by region and school of thought, you can choose from a dozen recognized calculation methods (Muslim World League, ISNA, Umm al-Qura, Egyptian General Authority, and others) and switch between the Standard and Hanafi Asr conventions. Your choice is remembered on your device for next time.
Everything else you need around prayer
- Hijri calendar — convert freely between the Gregorian and Hijri calendars, with today's Islamic date always shown up front.
- Ramadan hub — a dedicated view for the fasting month: Suhoor and Iftar timing built on the same accurate prayer-time engine.
- Mosque finder — a map of nearby mosques built from OpenStreetMap's community-maintained data, so you can find somewhere to pray in person.
- Browser notifications — optional, free reminders at prayer times, scheduled on our server and delivered by browser push providers.
- Embeddable widgets — lightweight Qibla and prayer-time widgets that other sites can embed directly, for mosques, community sites, and blogs that want to offer the same tools to their own visitors.
Built for the whole ummah, not just English speakers
QiblaFind supports multiple languages, with full right-to-left layout support for Arabic and other RTL locales — not a bolted-on translation, but a layout that mirrors correctly, sets the right fonts, and reads naturally in the language you chose.
Free, and staying that way
QiblaFind is free to use, with no paywalled features and no account required for any of the tools above. We keep the site fast and lean on purpose, and keep improving it — new locales, better accuracy, and the tools people actually ask for.
