Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of qiblafind.net and the tools it provides (together, the "Service"), operated by QiblaFind ("QiblaFind," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

QiblaFind provides free, browser-based tools related to Islamic prayer: a Qibla direction compass, prayer-time calculations, a Hijri calendar converter, a Ramadan information hub, a mosque finder built on third-party map data, optional browser-based prayer reminders, and embeddable widgets of the above. The Service is provided free of charge and does not require account creation.

2. Eligibility and acceptable use

The Service is intended for personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to:

  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international law;
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, or impair the Service, including through automated scraping at abusive volume, denial-of-service attempts, or circumventing rate limits;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, including the administrative interface, or to any systems or networks connected to it;
  • Reproduce, resell, or redistribute the Service or its underlying calculations as your own commercial product without our prior written consent; embedding our public widgets on your own site in the manner we provide them is expressly permitted.

3. Accuracy of religious and astronomical calculations

Qibla bearings, prayer times, Hijri dates, and related figures shown on the Service are generated using standard astronomical and geometric formulas, applied to the location data available at the time of calculation. We take reasonable care to make these calculations accurate, but the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, completeness, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Device sensors (GPS, magnetometer) vary in precision across devices and environments, and different, equally legitimate calculation methods and juristic conventions can produce slightly different results. For matters of religious observance, always cross-check the Service's output against your local mosque, religious authority, or another trusted source — QiblaFind is a convenience tool, not a substitute for local religious guidance.

4. Location and device permissions

Certain features (the compass, automatic prayer times, the mosque finder) request access to your device's location and, where applicable, motion/orientation sensors. Granting these permissions is entirely optional; declining them will fall back to manual location entry where supported. See our Privacy Policy for full detail on how this data is used and stored.

5. Third-party content and services

The Service displays or links to content from third parties, including map data and tiles from OpenStreetMap contributors and OpenFreeMap for the Mosque Finder. These third parties operate under their own terms and privacy practices, which we do not control. We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or conduct of any third-party service linked from or embedded in the Service.

6. Intellectual property

The QiblaFind name, logo, site design, and original written content are the property of QiblaFind unless otherwise noted. Prayer-time and Qibla-bearing calculations produced by the Service may be used freely for personal reference. Map data displayed through the Mosque Finder remains subject to the OpenStreetMap license (ODbL) and the terms of the relevant tile provider.

7. No warranty

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, QiblaFind disclaims all warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that any defects will be corrected.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, QiblaFind and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, the Service — including reliance on a Qibla direction, prayer time, or Hijri date that later proves inaccurate. Because the Service is provided free of charge, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you have paid us in the preceding twelve months (which, for most users, will be zero) or (b) one hundred US dollars (USD $100).

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold QiblaFind and its operators harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

10. Availability and changes to the Service

We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, temporarily or permanently, at any time and without prior notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any such change, suspension, or discontinuation.

11. Termination

We may restrict or terminate your access to the Service, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. Because the Service does not require an account, "termination" in practice means blocking access from the source in question (for example, by IP address or user agent) rather than deleting an account.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to QiblaFind's place of operation, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory local consumer-protection law provides otherwise for users in their own jurisdiction.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date associated with this page. Continued use of the Service after a change is posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Contact
